A04-02: The principle of alignment
Objective:
Learn:
Most professionally published graphics and publications use the principle of alignment to help organize and unify the elements on the design. Christa's resumé is rather different, being tilted at an angle. How has alignment been used to help organize her page visually? How was contrast used to identify the main points? How was repetition used to help organize information? Alignment forms a strong visual line down the list of experience, education, etc. That visual line helps lead your eye to the person's name, and contrast (huge letters) also pulls you there first. Repetition of the inverse subject headings help you to see organization within the sections. The angled text gives it a strong dynamic - energetic, and not static. I have a Pinterest board with examples of resumes. Take a look at it, or any other of the Design-Ideas boards! How has the principle of alignment been used to create order, to unify, and provide a logical flow of information? |
