A03-07: Elements of Art and Design: Form
Objectives:
- Understand that form, one of the elements of art, is the three dimensional aspect of art, whether it is implied on a two dimensional surface, or exists in a three dimensional space (such as a sculpture).
- Understand that the elements of art are the building blocks for creating graphics, paintings, and other types of art work.
Learn:
"Form is one of the seven elements of art. At its most basic, a form is about having dimension, such as a three-dimensional geometrical figure (i.e.: sphere, cube, cylinder, cone, etc.), as opposed to a shape, which is two-dimensional, or flat. Forms can be geometrical or organic, but all have volume - height, width, and depth. Artists create the illusion of form on two dimensional surfaces by using light and shadow (value), and the interplay between them. Watch the video, "Elements of Art: Form."
