A03-06: Pen tool review and using the pen tool on an alpha channel:
Objective:
|
If you need to review using "Select and Mask" then watch "My TWO-STEP PROCESS For Better Cut Outs! - Photoshop Select and Mask Crash Course"
|
Learn:
First, watch this video to see how to use both alpha channel masking and the pen tool to make a difficult selection. |
Apply: A03-06 Exercise. The Challenge!
Can you use a combination of pen tool and other techniques to remove this boy from his background? You'll need the pen tool because his white shirt blends into the background, and none of the other techniques you've learned will correct for that. I've worked through this myself, and will share how I did it below. Watch the video demonstration. Here's a link to the original image of the boy.
If you choose this as one of the three exercise files to submit for Lesson 3, then save your file as A03-06_Your_Name.psd.
Photoshop Tip: If you prefer working in the older refine edge dialog, then hold Command+Option+Shift while choosing Select and Mask in the Select menu.
